Pay your purchases easily in the United States
When you travel to the U.S., your Client Card (debit card) can be used to pay for purchases. Direct payment in the U.S. works the same way as Interac Direct Payment. A keypad at the merchant allows you to confirm the amount of your purchase in U.S. dollars. The amount, after conversion into Canadian dollars, is then directly debited from your account.
Your debit cards is accepted at close to 1 million points of sale in the United States, including most grocery stores and service stations.

You can use the NYCE network to make direct payments in the United States.
How many retailers accept direct payment via the NYCE network?
Nearly one million American retailers offer this service. For the list of major retailers, visit NYCE’s website at http://www.nyce.net/consumers/crossborderdebit/retailer_list.jsp.
Is the NYCE network secure?
The NYCE network complies with extremely strict guidelines and regulations in order to maintain a highly secure network. You can reduce risks by following the same security tips as when making a debit card transaction at home. Refer to the “Client Card Security Tips” pamphlet, which is available in the branches.
How can I tell if a merchant will accept my debit card?
Look for the red and white NYCE logo or, if you don’t see the logo, simply ask, “Do you accept debit?” Most grocery stores in the United States belong to the NYCE network.
