National Bank Discount Brokerage services available on Bell Mobility's ".com-ready" phones
Montreal, 5 September 2000 - National Bank Discount Brokerage Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of National Bank of Canada, is partnering with Bell Mobility to give clients Internet access to its brokerage services using digital PCS phones.
"Our goal is to provide our clients with wider access to financial information and investments," noted Yves G. Breton, President of National Bank Discount Brokerage. "With wireless technology, trading is easy and convenient. Over the coming months, we'll be pursuing this initiative and developing new tools designed to help clients to better manage their investments."
Through this partnership, National Bank Discount Brokerage is building on Bell Mobility's capacity and readiness to market wireless Internet services. With this partnership, clients will access their investments anytime and anywhere, using a cell phone. Clients will be able to:
- trade shares;
- check stock and index prices as well as currency exchange rates;
- keep posted on the latest stock market news;
- obtain account information (balance, account positions, status of trading orders).
On hand in English or in French, the service will be available to clients who have been assigned a user code and password, so trades can be conducted via www.invesnet.com, the National Bank Discount Brokerage site, using a digital Bell Mobility PCS phone equipped with Mobile Browser™. Clients need simply select "Finance" from the main menu, followed by the "InvesNET" option.
Bell Mobility's Mobile Browser™
In May 1999, Bell Mobility launched Mobile Browser™, making it the first company in North America to put an Internet browser into PCS handsets. Users can access Internet sites specially adapted for small display screens. Mobile Browser™ is currently available on a variety of Bell Mobility digital PCS phones, among them NeoPoint 1000, Qualcomm's QCP-2700F, QCP-2700 and QCP-2760, Motorola's digital StarTAC 7867W and Samsung's SCH-3530. Service will be available soon on the Nokia 6185. These handsets come "Internet ready," providing access to Mobile Browser™ anywhere, anytime.
