National Bank Financial Group collects $400,000 for the "Club des petits déjeuners du Québec" and Breakfast Clubs of Canada

Montreal, 16 February 2009 -

The campaign sponsored by National Bank Financial Group to sell Christmas ornaments for the benefit of the children of the "Club des petits déjeuners du Québec" and Breakfast Clubs of Canada, when combined with a corporate donation, raised a total of $400,000.

To encourage clients to give generously, the Financial Group offered a very special item for sale in its branches across Canada. After selling piggy banks in 2005, playing cards in 2006 and fruit spreads in 2007, this year the Financial Group opted for a Christmas ornament combo pack specially designed for the Breakfast Clubs. No fewer than 70,000 combo packs were sold. As a result, the Financial Group was able to give $400,000 to the Clubs.

National Bank Financial Group was very proud to join forces with the Breakfast Clubs in 2008. In Quebec alone, the Club served more than 2.1 million breakfasts to 15,000 children in 225 schools during the year. Every morning, 3,000 volunteers greet the children with a smile and a healthy meal before the school day begins. Thanks to the commitment of the partners of Breakfast Clubs of Canada, close to 360,000 school children in Canada can count on getting a good start to their day.

"National Bank Financial Group would like to highlight the efforts of the employees in all its branches across the country who contributed, one way or another, to the success of this campaign. Their inspiration and determination prompted clients to do something truly good for children," stated Kathleen Zicat, Senior Vice-President - Sales and Service, Retail Banking.

Daniel Germain, President and founder of the Breakfast Clubs, was overjoyed when the results were announced: "On behalf of the Club's kids, THANK YOU! I especially take my hat off to the management and personnel of National Bank Financial Group, who graciously participated in this fundraiser and happily collected your donations. This campaign is proof once again that, together, we have the power to change things and give our children hope for a brighter future."
