National Bank Financial Group
“Diversity: 150 years in the making”
Montreal, 8 June 2009 -
National Bank Financial Group is pleased to launch its Celebration of Diversity, which will run from June 8 to 12, 2009. The purpose of this event is to sensitize the Financial Group’s employees to the benefits of diversity, to recognize individual contributions and reduce prejudice in the workplace.
This year, National Bank Financial Group is celebrating diversity and awareness as part of a unique occasion: the Bank’s 150th anniversary. Accordingly, the Financial Group is celebrating the important role diversity has played for its many clients as well as its 17,000 employees from different backgrounds, its branches and service outlets across Canada.
With the theme “Diversity: 150 years in the making,” the various activities, games and contests held throughout the week are aimed at ensuring that everyone can grow in an enjoyable work environment. For example, six teams consisting of employees from Quebec, Ontario and Atlantic Canada will each volunteer for a local organization and donate $5,000 on behalf of the Financial Group.
As ambassador of A Celebration of Diversity, Patricia Curadeau-Grou, Executive Vice-President – Finance, Risk and Treasury, reminds us of the importance National Bank Financial Group places on diversity each year by promoting activities to help eliminate prejudice. “Whether through their talent, expertise, vision, ideas, culture or generation, all employees over the last 150 years have stood out and contributed to our Bank’s growth and success.”
In 2008, through its donations and sponsorships program and the initiatives of its employees, National Bank Financial Group helped support hundreds of organizations across Canada. It focused primarily on four main areas of activity – health, education, arts and culture and community outreach – with the goal of generating positive spinoffs for communities.
