New In-Branch Fundraiser for the Club des petits déjeuners du Québec and Breakfast Clubs of Canada

Montreal, 16 November 2009 -

The holiday season will be here again before you know it. This year, National Bank Financial Group will offer you the chance to brighten up your backpacks or luggage with a super-colourful, ultra-cool luggage tag duo, especially designed for the Club des petits déjeuners du Québec and Breakfast Clubs of Canada fundraising campaign.

Beginning today (December 1st in Atlantic Canada), and for a limited time, you will be able to purchase the Clubs’ tag duo at any branch of National Bank for only $5 for the pair. Whether you are looking for a gift, something to identify your bags or a way to show your appreciation to the host of a party, these tags are the perfect answer. They’re an easy, fun way to make someone happy and at the same time support the Clubs’ mission.

“For the fifth consecutive year, National Bank Financial Group is proud to team up with the Club des petits déjeuners du Québec and Breakfast Clubs of Canada to organize a major fundraising campaign in the branches,” affirmed Kathleen Zicat, Senior Vice-President, Sales and Service – Retail Banking, National Bank Financial Group. “We believe that the positive spinoffs of this partnership go well beyond the thousands of children who receive a healthy breakfast each morning before going to class. Our combined efforts also fuel a desire to learn and hope for the future among many young people.”

“It’s always great to give someone a present,” notes Daniel Germain, founder and president of the Club des petits déjeuners du Québec and Breakfast Clubs of Canada. “And when this small act of sharing also helps to give thousands of children an equal chance to succeed in school and in life, it truly represents the magic of Christmas.”

Each year, the Club des petits déjeuners du Québec, with the help of 3,000 volunteers, serves over 2.1 million breakfasts to 15,000 children at 244 partner schools. Across Canada, nearly 200,000 schoolchildren are starting their school day on the right foot due, largely, to the commitment and devotion of Breakfast Clubs of Canada partners. These children now have the chance to begin their day on a full stomach and with a clear mind. Every year, hundreds of children who belong to the Clubs also participate in fun learning activities that promote mutual respect, self-esteem and co-operation.
