Montreal, March 3, 2010 – , 3 March 2010 -

The Canadian Red Cross gratefully accepted a donation of nearly $1.3 million from National Bank Financial group, its employees and clients. This was one of the largest donations received by the Canadian Red Cross as part of many spontaneous campaigns organized throughout the country in reaction to January's earthquake in Haiti.

The solidarity and generosity of National Bank Financial Group employees and clients resulted in nearly $1.3 million being raised as part of various initiatives of the Financial Group's "Our hearts are with Haiti" campaign to help the Haiti earthquake victims.

"The need is still great! This major contribution will allow us to help Haitian communities affected by the catastrophe to recover and to build a stronger, healthier and more resilient community," said Michel Léveillé, General Manager, Canadian Red Cross, Quebec Division.

The Financial Group's campaign was a great success thanks to the generosity of its employees and clients who made their donations in the 444 branches of National Bank Financial Group across the country as well as National Bank MasterCard cardholders with rewards program.

The sum of $1,019,535.59 raised by employees and clients, and added to the Bank's $250,000 corporate donation, amounts to a grand total of $1,269,535.59. The funds collected will be used to provide immediate relief and basic supplies to the victims.
