National Bank Financial Group receives the Diversity Award from the Montreal Jeune Chambre de commerce haïtienne

Montreal, 17 March 2010 - 

National Bank Financial Group received the Diversity Award for the quality of its practices promoting diversity within the organization from the Montreal Jeune Chambre de commerce haïtienne at its 3rd Excellence Gala on Saturday, March 13. Minister of Immigration and Cultural Communities Yolande James presented the award.

The Diversity Award is given to a company that sets itself apart through inclusive human resources practices and also by the number of employees from cultural communities and their position level in the organization. The company's commitment to the Haitian community is another aspect the jury considers.

“Contributing to the promotion of our diverse society by allowing our employees, regardless of personal characteristics, to achieve their full potential in positions that reflect their competencies is truly a priority for the Financial Group,” stated Yves-Pierre Badin, Commercial Banking Manager – SME Market for National Bank Financial Group, as he accepted the award.

For more than 20 years, the Financial Group has distinguished itself through its measures to ensure equity in its human resources management policies and practices. These practices include a recruitment process that minimizes cultural bias – and involves several organizations that serve ethnic communities – as well as diversity objectives in business lines' strategic planning. In 2009, visible minorities accounted for 12.5% of National Bank Financial Group's workforce.
