National Bank Financial Group at the
“Open House on Quebec Farms”
Montreal, 10 September 2010 -
For a second consecutive year, National Bank Financial Group is participating in the 8th annual “Open House on Quebec Farms” organized by the Union des producteurs agricoles (UPA). On Sunday, September 12, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., more than 100 Quebec farms will welcome some 125,000 visitors and many key agriculture and agrifood stakeholders.
“At National Bank Financial Group, we feel privileged to be a partner in this 8th edition of Open House on Quebec Farms. The Financial Group's top priority is to recognize and emphasize the importance of agribusinesses, as they contribute to the food supplies and health of millions people here and around the world,” says Pierre Dubreuil, Senior Vice-President – International and Business Solutions, Commercial Banking, National Bank Financial Group.
It will be a perfect opportunity for people to meet farmers, see what they do day to day, sample their products, get a closer look at their animals, and discover their passion for agriculture.
The day's activities will include a tasting of local products, a visit to farms and their facilities, demonstrations, a presentation, games, a draw for baskets filled with local products, and much more. The event is free and will take place rain or shine.
Quebec's main farm productions – dairy, cattle, goat and fruit and vegetable production – will be the focus of the event, much to the delight of young and old, as well as the producers themselves who are proud of their work and happy to play hosts.
In the first seven years, the open house event has drawn more than 909,000 visitors to over one thousand Quebec farms. Over the years, some 11,000 volunteers have helped farmers reach out to urbanites to answer questions about farming, life in the country, production methods and agroenvironmental practices.
