National Bank Financial Group is Participating in the “Society in Motion” Campaign Initiated by the “Société de Transport de Montréal”

Montreal, 17 September 2010 -

National Bank Financial Group is proud to publicly demonstrate its commitment to the use of public transportation in Montreal by working with the “Société de transport de Montréal” (STM) on its “Society in Motion” campaign.

As part of the campaign, National Bank’s 68 Montreal branches have posted stickers bearing the Society in Motion symbol and the slogan “Merci de choisir le transport collectif” (Thank you for choosing public transport). These stickers are prominently displayed in the branches and attest to National Bank Financial Group’s support for promoting public transport in the city.

Furthermore, as part of its “In town without my car”event, the Agence Métropolitaine de Transport de Montréal” invites Montrealers to experience public transport for five consecutive days, from September 20 to 24. This initiative, now in its eighth year, is intended to raise awareness of the pollution and stress resulting from heavy traffic and encourage people to change their habits by choosing public and alternative means of transportation.

The Financial Group is a leading corporate citizen. It has undertaken a number of initiatives aimed at clients and employees to raise awareness and encourage them to change their routines:

  • Most downtown buildings where Financial Group employees work are regrouped as a “campus”, built around Central Station.
  • Since July 2009, showers have been installed on the second floor of the National Bank Financial Group building at 600 de La Gauchetière so that employees can have the opportunity to freshen up after walking or cycling to work.
  • National Bank Financial Group provides 91 interior bicycle parking spaces.
  • The Financial Group offers its clients and employees up to 25% off on their car insurance premiums, based on their annual mileage (“The less you drive, the less you pay”).

The Financial Group’s commitment to the community is also evident in the eco-friendly practices it applies when renovating and designing its branches.

About National Bank Financial Group’s eco-friendly practices
By using a modular space planning approach and adopting sustainable environmental practices, National Bank Financial Group is committed to being an ecologically responsible leader in Quebec. A growing number of service points have been remodelled to reflect the changing needs of its clients. Furniture, glass doors and ABM front panels are a few examples of architectural components made from sustainable materials that can be reused from one branch to another. These components allow us to reduce construction waste and promote the local economy, while being modular and multipurpose. In addition, millions of KWh have been saved as a result of an innovative energy integration system in branches that centralizes energy management for the 125 service points by using a web interface.
