New In-Branch Fundraiser for the “Club des petits déjeuners du Québec” and Breakfast Clubs of Canada
Montreal, 23 November 2010 -
National Bank Financial Group is tempting the taste buds of gourmets and gastronomes by offering them a box of delicious cookies, on sale for $5 per box, from November 22 to December 31, 2010, to benefit the Club des petits déjeuners du Québec and the Breakfast Clubs of Canada.
“National Bank Financial Group is continuing its support of the Club des petits déjeuners du Québec and Breakfast Clubs of Canada by allowing fund-raising activities throughout its entire branch network across the country. For six years now, National Bank has been making a difference by selling in its branches a promotional item chosen by the Clubs,” said the chair of the campaign, Kathleen Zicat, Senior Vice-President, Sales and Service – Personal Banking, National Bank Financial Group. “Our 18,000 employees are very proud that they help give thousands of young children the chance to go to school in the morning properly nourished.”
Each box of cookies also contains a unique recipe created specially for the Clubs by renowned chef Anne Desjardins, under the watchful eye of nutritional doctor, Isabelle Huot. These delicious cookies come in a beautiful, reusable, metal box designed by Kettö, and have been generously prepared, baked, packaged, and delivered—complete with the recipe—by the team at La Petite Bretonne so that you can enjoy them for a long time to come. It also is a fun way to make someone happy and at the same time support the Clubs’ mission.
"During the season of giving when everyone is looking for that perfect little gift, these cookies not only provide a festive token for friends and family but also help to improve the lives of children across the country", says Daniel Germain, Founder and President of the Club des petits déjeuners du Québec and Breakfast Clubs of Canada. "This truly is a gift that will keep giving all year round."
Thanks to the donations collected during this campaign in Quebec, 16,000 children across 273 schools are served breakfast every morning, by some 3,500 volunteers for a total of more than 2.3 million breakfasts during the school year. Across Canada, over 180,000 schoolchildren are starting their school day on the right foot due, largely, to the commitment and devotion of Breakfast Clubs of Canada partners. All these children are able to start their day on a full stomach and with a clear mind. Also, every year, hundreds of children who are members of the Club participate in fun, educational activities which are geared to showing respect for others, building self-esteem, and encouraging cooperation among young people.
