National Bank Branch in Lachine (Montreal) is certified LEED

Montreal, 1 September 2011 -

On Monday, August 29, 2011, the branch located at 3180 Remembrance in Lachine, a Montreal suburb, held an official ceremony to mark the branch’s LEED-CI Silver certification, which it earned thanks to its internal layout. Anik Bastien, Secretary of the Quebec Chapter of the Canadian Green Building Council’s (CaGBC), presented a plaque to the people responsible for masterminding the project at National Bank, Bruno Leclerc, Senior Manager – Premises Department, and André Longpré, Manager – Building Engineering and Sustainable Development.

Awarded by the CaGBC, LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification recognizes buildings that have been designed and built with high energy efficiency in mind, and that meet specific sustainable development standards. According to the CaGBC, the National Bank branch in Lachine is among the very first bank buildings to be awarded LEED-CI Silver certification in Quebec for interior design.

National Bank is proud to support sustainable development projects as part of its long-term vision. “The LEED certification process is long and demanding, but it’s worth the effort,” stated Mr. Leclerc. “Reviewing our practices in order to meet these requirements was not an easy task, but we are now reaping the benefits of it. By aligning our design standards with LEED rating systems, we are reaffirming our willingness to design all our new branches with a view to achieving sustainable development.”
