National Bank, proud partner of the 2011-2012 season of the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal

Montreal, 6 September 2011 -

National Bank is honoured to continue, for a sixth consecutive year, its commitment to the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal (OSM) as a partner for the 2011-2012 season.

This season, music lovers will see their longtime dream of a new concert hall come true. With its impeccable acoustics, the OSM's new home will enhance the symphony experience and showcase the incredible talent of these musicians and conductor Kent Nagano.

"National Bank is delighted to join the OSM for this first season in its new facilities and wishes it many years of success in this location," stated Sylvie Roy, Vice-President, Corporate Marketing and Communications. "By accompanying the OSM into this new chapter in its history, we hope to encourage interest in and appreciation for the artistic vitality that this cultural treasure offers."

As part of the partnership, National Bank is presenting the September 13 Opening Concert. This is a rare opportunity of hearing the Turangalîla-Symphonie, a cornerstone in the orchestral work of Olivier Messiaen. This monumental composition, somewhere between symphony and concerto, revisits the myth of Tristan and Isolde. The first part of the program features Joshua Bell, “the greatest American violinist active today” according to the Boston Herald.

Through its donations and sponsorships program and the initiatives of its employees, National Bank helps support hundreds of organizations across Canada. It focuses primarily on four main areas of activity—health, education, arts and culture, and community outreach—with the goal of generating positive benefits for communities.
