National Bank Invites You to the Saguenay National Bank Challenger

Montreal, 24 October 2011 -

National Bank is proud to be part of the 6th edition of the Saguenay National Bank Challenger. Every year, the Saguenay Challenger, which is the last stop on the National Bank Circuit, features the best up-and-coming female tennis players. National Bank invites you to attend this event from October 24 to 30 at the Club de tennis intérieur Saguenay, located at 2680 boul. du Saguenay in Jonquière.

Many rising Canadian and international tennis stars will be there. Spectators can watch Quebecers Marie-Ève Pelletier and Eugénie Bouchard, as well as several international headliners, including the Croatian Mirjana Lucic.

As a longstanding sponsor of tennis, National Bank supports numerous organizations in Quebec and Ontario.
This association with the Saguenay Challenger comes under the Bank’s sports sponsorship program, which strives to promote excellence, determination and the training and development of professional and amateur athletes. National Bank is proud to support this unique event that brings together tennis stars and fans from around the world.

In addition, National Bank will be pursuing its used tennis ball recovery program, currently in its fifth year. Under the program, donated tennis balls are distributed to various Quebec school boards to be placed on the legs of students’ chairs. This initiative, undertaken in response to a real need expressed by local schools, seeks to reduce classroom noise and promote a better learning environment for children.

National Bank will have a special team and booth on site throughout the tournament to collect used tennis balls. Those who drop balls off can have a chance to win various instant prizes and will be eligible for the grand prize draw. For more information, consult www.nbc.ca/recycling.

In 2010, more than 1,200 balls were distributed to three schools in the Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean area. To
date, more than 465,000 tennis balls have been recovered and distributed throughout Quebec. In addition to helping protect the environment, distributing the collected tennis balls benefited countless students and teachers.
