Défi sportif at National Bank: wheelchair sports demonstration

Montreal, 14 April 2004 -

To celebrate the upcoming Défi sportif 2004 competition, National Bank is inviting the media to a wheelchair sports demonstration. Journalists will also have the opportunity to meet Mario Caron, a National Bank employee who will be participating in the next Paralympic Games this summer in Athens. Mr. Caron will be receiving a National Bank bursary during the Défi sportif event.

Mario Caron, who plays left wing on the Canadian men's goalball team, was named "Most Valuable Player" at the 1996 Atlanta Paralympic Games. His team also took home the silver medal from the Games. In 2003, Mr. Caron ranked third in the qualifying competition held in Quebec City.

This event is part of National Bank Diversity Week, an initiative that aims, among other things, to make Bank personnel aware of the realities of people with disabilities.
