Pascal Duquette to join Natcan Investment Management
Natcan Investment Management is pleased to announce that Pascal Duquette will be joining its team on May 31, 2004. In his capacity as Senior Vice-President, Mr. Duquette will be responsible for managing all international and global equities mandates in addition to serving as the firm's Chief Investment Officer.
Highly respected within the industry, Mr. Duquette has over 18 years of experience managing portfolios. He has held several portfolio management positions at Canadian National Railway Company (CN), including that of Manager – International Equities since 1998. Mr. Duquette has a Master's in finance and economics from the École des Hautes Études Commerciales in Montreal and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.
Mr. Duquette is a welcome addition to the Natcan team. “His management approach ties in perfectly with the philosophy we have developed over the years,” stated Sam Reda, Natcan's President and Chief Operating Officer. “I am confident that Mr. Duquette's expertise, coupled with that of our existing portfolio managers, will ensure Natcan's continued success and enable it to remain one of Canada's leading institutional managers.”
The arrival of Mr. Duquette coincides with a new bottom-up approach to international equities, which favours the selection of individual stocks. Preserving capital will remain a top priority, as evidenced by a value bias and disciplined buying and selling of securities. Plans are also underway to implement a global research platform for sharing various sector analysis tools and to hire new managers and analysts.
