National Bank offers $60,000 purse to International Bromont

Bromont, 21 June 2004 -

Marking its 8th year of association with the world-class International Bromont equestrian competition, National Bank will have the honour of awarding a purse of $60,000 to the best rider competing for the World Cup Qualifier on Sunday, June 27 in Bromont.

“Supporting the International Bromont is a National Bank tradition. We are delighted with the continued success of this event, which has come to be associated with the Eastern Townships and attracts more than 50,000 visitors each year. More importantly, equestrian sport inspires such noble values as courage, discipline, determination and sportsmanship, all of which we share wholeheartedly. They are what make the sport so fascinating,” explained Michel Labonté, National Bank Senior Vice-President – Finance, Technology and Corporate Affairs.

The International Bromont World Cup Qualifier, which brings together the world's top riders, caps off a week of activities and competitions which draw thousands of spectators from Quebec and around the world. Last year, the event generated over $3.5 million in revenue for the Eastern Townships.

Founded in 1976 following the Montreal Olympic Games, the International Bromont, now in its 29th year, is one of the most prestigious equestrian events in North America.
