National Bank Bursary and Summer Employment Program: two students from Sherbrooke stand out

Montreal, 12 July 2007 -

As a part of the 18th edition of its bursary and summer employment program for post-secondary students with a physical or sensory disability, National Bank is proud to present a $2,000 bursary and a 12-week job to Anne-Marie Gagnon and a $1,000 bursary and a 10-week job to Sarah Raîche-Rousseau.

Ms. Gagnon and Ms. Raîche-Rousseau were selected from among several candidates by a jury made up of university administrators and representatives from service organizations for persons with disabilities. Anne-Marie Gagnon is currently majoring in psychology at the Université de Sherbrooke and Sarah Raîche-Rousseau is studying accounting and management at Cégep de Sherbrooke. In addition to offering them financial support, the National Bank Bursary and Summer Employment Program will enable them to gain work experience in their fields of study.

Since the program was launched in 1989, more than 50 college and university students with a physical or sensory disability have been able to develop their skills in a professional environment. Recipients acquire stimulating work experience in an area related to their studies. This program also raises awareness among the Bank’s employees of the realities of living with a disability.
