National Bank donates $40,000 to West Island Community Shares

Montreal, 10 October 2007 -

Last night, Louis Vachon, President and Chief Executive Officer of National Bank, presided over the inauguration of the new National Bank branch at 2800 St. Charles Boulevard in Kirkland. During the reception, he presented a cheque for $40,000 to West Island Community Shares, an organization that provides community development and funding to other organizations working in the West Island.

This donation was made possible in part through the generosity of clients, employees and residents in the Kirkland area at a Gourmet Day held on September 22 to celebrate the branch opening. In addition, funds were raised during a golf tournament held by Commercial Banking in the Western Montreal region on August 30 and a corporate donation was made by National Bank and the Montréal Administrative Region.

During the reception, Louis Vachon shared his enthusiasm over being part of the event. He stated, “This is one of the largest branches in the West Island. We have been serving clients in this area for decades. These clients continue to do business with National Bank because of the expertise and dedication of our employees.” He also reiterated the Bank’s commitment to the community as a central part of its mission and underscored the importance of strengthening relationships with clients in order to better manage their finances.

The personnel of the new branch offers clients sound advice and specialized financial planning services, as well as extended business hours.
