National Bank supports Fondation Maison Michel-Sarrazin with a $200,000 donation

Montreal, 15 March 2012 -

National Bank is pleased to support Fondation Maison Michel-Sarrazin as part of its 25 years – $25 million fundraising campaign. The Bank has committed to donating $200,000 over 4 years. Founded in Quebec City over 25 years ago, Maison Michel-Sarrazin is a palliative care institution that provides services to terminally ill patients free of charge. It is a unique and innovative organization, and a leader in palliative care.

“National Bank has great respect for Maison Michel-Sarrazin’s mission. We are committed to supporting this organization, which enables terminally ill individuals and their loved ones to focus on sharing quality time with no other worries,” stated France Croteau, Vice-President – Sales and Service, Personal Banking for Quebec City and Eastern Quebec at National Bank.

“This significant donation is very encouraging for our campaign,” emphasized Martin Lachance, Chairman of the Foundation's Board of Directors. “We would like to thank National Bank for its support that will undoubtedly encourage other major donors to make similar contributions.”

Launched last fall, the 25 years – $25 million campaign has several objectives:
- Expanding and renovating the Maison’s facilities
- Diversifying the services offered
- Continuing the palliative care research this organization has become known for worldwide
- Investing in the endowment fund to ensure that Maison Michel-Sarrazin can continue offering its services
- Teaching, training, innovating and transferring expertise
- Developing complementary approaches

Every year, through its donations and sponsorships program and the initiatives of its employees, National Bank supports hundreds of organizations across Canada. It focuses primarily on four main areas of activity—health, education, arts and culture, and community outreach—with the goal of generating positive benefits for communities.
