Risk management: An essential tool for seizing business opportunities

Montreal, 19 January 2005 -

Speaking today at the Midis d’affaires business luncheon of the Thérèse-de-Blainville Chambre de commerce et d’industrie, Patricia Curadeau-Grou, Senior Vice-President, Risk Management at National Bank explained that “the challenge in risk management is to identify the processes and operations that reflect and continue to generate the true added value of a company.  It is a fascinating procedure at the very core of a manager’s job and one that enables a company to identify its strengths and weaknesses and determine its greatest assets and best growth opportunities.”

At the seminar on overcoming obstacles and seizing opportunities, Ms. Curadeau-Grou gave business people from the Sainte-Thérèse and Blainville area insight into the fundamental aspects of business risk management and pointed out the importance of identifying and measuring risk exposure.

Senior Vice-President, Risk Management, and a member of National Bank’s Executive Committee since March 2002, Patricia Curadeau-Grou is responsible for strategic risk management at the Bank and its subsidiaries.  She also chairs National Bank’s Credit Committee.

In 2004, Ms. Curadeau-Grou was named one of Canada’s 100 most powerful women by the Toronto-based Women’s Executive Network.
