National Bank supports Fondation OLO

Montreal, 3 March 2005 -

National Bank is proud to donate $15,000 to Fondation OLO, an organization dedicated to helping expectant mothers who are in need. This contribution is in lieu of the amount normally spent to host a luncheon following the Bank’s Annual Meeting of Shareholders.

In concrete terms, this donation will allow the Fondation to provide the basic nutrition as well as the psychosocial and nursing counselling needed to give 60 babies a healthy start in life.

In Quebec, one pregnant woman in five lives below the poverty line. For the thousands of women in this position, malnutrition poses a real threat to the health of their unborn children. The Bank is proud to support Fondation OLO which, through its activities, ensures that these women receive the nutritional basics – eggs, milk and orange juice – and the vitamin supplements required during pregnancy to bring healthy babies to term.

Every year, the Bank gives close to $10 million in donations or sponsorships to many health, education, community assistance and cultural organizations.
