National Bank Offers Bursary and Summer Employment Program for Students with Physical or Sensory Disabilities

Montreal, 11 January 2006 -

For the 17th year in a row, National Bank is offering a Bursary and Summer Employment Program for university and CEGEP students with physical or sensory disabilities.

The Program was established to provide financial support to students with physical or sensory disabilities so that they can pursue their education, while allowing them to obtain practical work experience related to their field of study.

Under the Program, the Bank awards two $2,000 bursaries together with a paid 12-week summer job for university students in Quebec, Ontario or New Brunswick, and one $1,000 bursary together with a paid 10-week summer job for CEGEP students in Quebec.

The Bursary and Summer Employment Program demonstrates National Bank’s commitment to being a leader in employment equity and diversity.  Every effort is made to ensure that no qualified person, regardless of his or her status, is denied employment opportunities.

Since its creation in 1989, the Bank’s Bursary and Summer Employment Program has enabled 49 CEGEP and university students with physical or sensory disabilities to develop their skills. The Program also serves to make Bank employees more aware of persons with disabilities and the challenges they face.

Students are invited to apply before February 10, 2006 on National Bank’s website at or by filling out an application available from their CEGEP, university, or certain other specialized organizations.
