National Bank of Canada donates $50,000 to the University of Ottawa Heart Institute

Montreal, 24 April 2006 -

National Bank of Canada is pleased to contribute $50,000 to the University of Ottawa Heart Institute Foundation’s endowment campaign.

National Bank’s contribution will be used by the University of Ottawa Heart Institute to improve the quality of life of thousands of cardiac patients and advance research into heart disease. The Bank and the Institute share a common interest in healthcare development and public wellness.

“We are especially proud of our commitment to the Foundation because we know that heart disease is the leading cause of death in Canada,” said Peter D. Thompson, National Bank’s Vice-President for Outaouais – Ontario.

In 2005, the Bank and its subsidiaries, through corporate donations, sponsorships, in-branch fundraising activities and various benefit events, gave $18 million to hundreds of Canadian education, health care, cultural and community organizations.
