National Bank honours its Défi sportif Champions

Montreal, 26 April 2006 -

In addition to sponsoring the 23rd edition of Défi sportif, which kicks off today, National Bank is pleased to award a bursary to each of the National Bank Défi sportif Champions in recognition of their talent, hard work and dedication to promoting their respective sports.

“National Bank has been a proud sponsor of the National Bank Défi sportif Champions for four years now. Determination and the pursuit of excellence are two values we share with these champions chosen for their athletic achievements, perseverance, and team spirit. They also play a central role in raising awareness both at the Bank and among the public about what people with disabilities can achieve in sports or the workplace,” explained Sylvie Roy, Vice-President – Marketing and Public Affairs at National Bank and Ambassador of Défi sportif.

By partnering with amateur sport, National Bank is able to promote one of its objectives, which is to encourage and spotlight the talents of people who have a physical, intellectual, auditory or visual disability. The Bank believes that diversity, when lived every day, is a competitive advantage and enriches our relationships.

The sporting events will be held until April 30 at four major centres in Montreal, bringing together some 2,800 athletes from several different countries, and hundreds of trainers and volunteers. The Bank would like to congratulate all the athletes and wish them the best of success at the games.
