National Bank honours Pierre M. Houle for his social commitment with the “André Bérard Award”

For several years now, National Bank has been encouraging its employees to get involved in their communities. It is therefore pleased to bestow the “André Bérard Award” on Pierre M. Houle, a technical advisor at the Banking Information Centre of National Bank, who has been volunteering at La Rose Bleue

This award, given out during National Volunteer Week, includes a $5,000 donation by the Bank to La Rose Bleue, an association in Mascouche that assists people with intellectual or sensory disabilities. “Volunteerism is such a big part of my life and the lives of my family.  Giving to those in need helps me to grow as an individual. It’s the main reason why I get involved. This award represents the Bank’s heartfelt support and recognition,” said Mr. Houle. The donation will enable the organization to offer even more personalized and diversified assistance to people in need.

The “André Bérard Award”, created in honour of André Bérard, a former National Bank President and Chief Executive Officer known for his community involvement, recognizes the remarkable volunteer work done by Bank employees. It is part of a broader recognition program Our hearts are with you, which supports employees’ volunteer activities, rewards their efforts and enhances the impact of their actions with financial contributions to the organizations that are dear to their hearts.

Every year, the Bank renews its commitment to improve the quality of life in the communities it serves and to actively participate in their development. In 2005, National Bank and its subsidiaries, through corporate donations, sponsorships, in-branch fundraising activities and various benefit events gave $18 million to hundreds of Canadian healthcare, education, community outreach and cultural organizations.
