National Bank helps in the fight against homophobia

Montreal, 17 May 2006 -

National Bank is pleased to help in the fight against homophobia by acting as a major sponsor of the conference organized by the Fondation Émergence as part of the International Day Against Homophobia.  The theme for this year’s conference, which will take place on May 17 at the Hôtel Gouverneur Place Dupuis in Montreal, is homophobia in the workplace.

“The Bank places a great deal of importance on having a diverse workforce,” said France Pelletier, Manager – Employment Equity and Diversity at National Bank, who will give a speech on diversity during the conference.  “We are convinced that our success is the result of the value our employees bring to our organization. In addition, developing the many aspects of diversity, such as culture, age and gender enables us to better adapt to the needs of all our clients.”

Every year, the Bank organizes a week dedicated to diversity in the workplace in order to raise awareness among management and employees and suggest ways to recruit, engage and retain the best people, regardless of the group to which they belong.  This year’s event will take place from June 12 to 16.
