UQAM Student Awarded National Bank Bursary

Montreal, 28 July 2006 -

National Bank is proud to present a $2,000 bursary and a paid 12-week summer job to Anjara Boicel as part of its 17th annual Bursary and Summer Employment Program for students with a physical of sensory disability.

Ms. Boicel was selected from among a number of candidates by a jury made up of university administrators and representatives from service organizations for persons with disabilities. She is currently majoring in Business Administration at Université du Québec à Montréal.   In addition to offering her valuable financial support, the Bank’s bursary and summer employment program will help her acquire professional experience in her field of study.

National Bank encourages all students with physical or sensory disabilities to strive for their goals.   Under the Bank’s Bursary and Summer Employment Program, two bursaries of $2,000 plus a paid 12-week summer job are awarded to university students in Ontario, Quebec or New Brunswick, while college students in Quebec are eligible for a bursary of $1,000 and a 10-week summer job.

Since its launch in 1989, the National Bank Bursary and Summer Employment Program has helped more than 50 college and university students with physical or sensory disabilities develop their skills.  Recipients acquire stimulating work experience in an area related to their studies.  The program also raises awareness among the Bank’s employees of the realities of living with a disability.
