National Bank honours Sainte-Rosalie agri-businesswoman

Montreal, 5 September 2006 -

National Bank proudly presented Maryse Labbé, co-owner of an agribusiness in Sainte-Rosalie, with the Catherine Crolo Award at the Harvest Festival held on September 3 at Maison Saint-Gabriel, a farmhouse museum operated by the Congrégation Notre-Dame.

For the past eight years, National Bank has recognized a Quebec businesswoman in the agricultural sector for her energy and tireless dedication to achieving her goals. This year, the award went to Maryse Labbé, co-owner of Lavalco, an operation that breeds chickens for the production of poultry meat and eggs. Ms. Labbé received a $500 RRSP.

The Chatherine Crolo Award was created by National Bank in honour of the first businesswoman in New France, Catherine Crolo, who became the first intendant of the Maison Saint-Gabriel of the Congrégation Notre-Dame in 1658.

The agricultural sector includes many family-owned SMEs that have specific financial management and administration needs and face their own particular set of risks. The National Bank team boasts more than 100 farm advisors with extensive expertise and specialized training―almost all are agronomists―who understand and can support farmers.
