National Bank Insurance’s Drive Eco a success: 2,000 trees already planted in Quebec

Montreal, 22 February 2008 -

National Bank is pleased to announce that, barely six months after it was launched, the Drive Eco program from National Bank Insurance has already resulted in more than 2,000 trees being planted across Quebec.

These rehabilitated green spaces, where a variety of trees have been planted, will trap around 825 tonnes of CO2 and benefit communities across the province. Knowing that one tonne of CO2 is about the same volume as an Olympic-sized swimming pool, National Bank Insurance is proud to be making such a sizable contribution to protecting Quebec’s environment.

Last September, in collaboration with ZERØCO2, National Bank Insurance launched the Drive Eco program, the first “green” insurance policy in Quebec. Targeting young drivers aged 16-35, this initiative allows them to offset a portion of their vehicle’s annual CO2 emissions, at no extra charge, by planting trees across Quebec. This exclusive offer stems from National Bank Insurance’s determination to lend a hand to young Quebecers who are concerned about the environment.

National Bank Insurance has always rewarded clients with a good driving record, and in 2007, introduced its “The less you drive, the less you pay” concept, allowing drivers who use alternate methods of transportation to save money.
