National Bank Financial Group announces recipients of student bursaries
National Bank Financial Group today announced the names of the three recipients in the 20th edition of its bursary and summer employment program for students with functional limitations.
National Bank Financial Group is proud to award a $2,500 bursary to Anselmo Billy Da Silveira, a student of IT technologies at the CEGEP du Vieux Montréal. He also received a 10-week summer job at the Equipment, Software and Database Expertise Centre, at the head office in Montreal.
Cinthia Jean, who is working towards a Bachelor’s in Business Administration at the Université de Moncton, received a $5,000 bursary and a 12-week summer job as a customer service representative at a branch of the National Bank Financial Group in New Brunswick.
Finally, Kristina Wiech, who is studying for a Bachelor of Commerce degree at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology, received a $5,000 bursary and 12-week summer job as a customer service representative at a branch in Oshawa.
The candidates were selected by a jury made up of university administrators and representatives from service organizations for persons with disabilities. In addition to offering financial support, the Bank’s bursary and summer employment program helps candidates acquire work experience in their field of study.
Since its launch in 1989, the National Bank Financial Group Bursary and Summer Employment Program has helped more than 61 college and university students with functional limitations develop their skills in the workplace and gain valuable experience in an area related to their studies. The program also raises awareness among the Financial Group’s employees to the realities of living with functional limitations.
In 2008, through its donations and sponsorships program and the initiatives of its employees, National Bank Financial Group helped support hundreds of organizations across Canada. It focuses primarily on four main areas of activity – health, education, arts and culture, and community outreach – with the goal of generating positive spinoffs for communities.
