National Bank Financial Group appoints Luc Bertrand as Vice-Chairman
National Bank Financial Group is pleased to announce the appointment of Luc Bertrand to the newly created position of Vice-Chairman. Mr. Bertrand, who will join the Bank on February 7, will report to Louis Vachon, President and Chief Executive Officer.
“Luc Bertrand is well respected in the business community having, among other things, consolidated Canada’s international standing in the derivatives market when he was with Montreal Exchange Inc., thereby enabling businesses and individuals to expand the scope of their financial strategies to promote growth. I am confident that Mr. Bertrand will make a tremendous contribution to the Financial Group’s development,” stated Louis Vachon.
Mr. Bertrand will be responsible for developing and maintaining relations with corporate, institutional and government clients in Canada. In that regard, he will maximize the Financial Group’s service offering in line with client needs as well as the advisory expertise required of all business and support sectors. He will also act as a strategic advisor to management, particularly on matters pertaining to government relations and derivatives regulations.
During his career, Luc Bertrand has held various management positions in the financial industry, including most recently that of President and Chief Executive Officer of Montreal Exchange Inc. (2000 to 2009). He has also served on several boards of directors and industry committees and, from 1998 to 2000, held a senior position at National Bank Financial Group.
