National Bank invites you to the National Bank Day at the Rogers Cup
A proud presenting partner of the Rogers Cup for seven years now, National Bank is celebrating the 2011 edition at the Uniprix Stadium from August 5 to 14 with many onsite activities. A special team from National Bank will be holding a series of entertaining activities for visitors, including the National Bank Day on August 12.
The animation team of Clearfacts.ca, National Bank’s financial literacy website, will be on site on August 5, 7 and 12. Team members will be accompanied by the portal’s official spokesperson, the hugely popular Alexandre Bilodeau, gold medalist in the moguls event at the Vancouver Olympic Games, and will answer visitors’ questions and share financial tips and advice. Alexandre, a finance student at Concordia University, will show that he has what it takes to become a business mogul! On National Bank Day August 12, the first 10,000 visitors to arrive will receive a souvenir gift. Also, five young tennis professionals will be awarded National Bank bursaries, totalling $50,000, to help them in their training and development.
As a longstanding sponsor of tennis, National Bank supports numerous organizations in Quebec and Ontario. This association with the Rogers Cup comes under the Bank’s sports sponsorship program, which aims to promote excellence, determination and the training and development of professional and amateur athletes. National Bank is proud to support this unique event that brings together tennis stars and fans from around the world.
In addition, National Bank will be pursuing its used tennis ball recovery program, currently in its fifth year. Under the program, donated tennis balls are distributed to various Quebec school boards to be placed on the legs of students’ chairs. This initiative, undertaken in response to a real need expressed by local schools, seeks to reduce classroom noise and promote a better learning environment for children.
National Bank will have a special team and booth on site from August 5 to 14 to collect used tennis balls. Those who drop balls off can have a chance to win various instant prizes and will be eligible for the grand prize draw. For more information, consult www.nbc.ca/recycling.
To date, more than 375,000 tennis balls have been recovered and distributed throughout Quebec. In addition to helping protect the environment, distributing the collected tennis balls benefitted countless students and teachers.
