National Bank and its Employees Donate $3,432,421 to United Way/Centraide

Montreal, 25 January 2013 -

National Bank is pleased to contribute to the success of the United Way/Centraide campaign with a donation of more than $3.4 million, an increase of $300,000 over last year. This amount represents donations made by current and retired Bank employees across Canada, as well as a corporate donation from National Bank. In addition, the very first Centraide Soccer Cup tournament, in which the Bank’s team did itself proud, helped raise $250,000, even before the official start of the annual campaign.

“I am very proud of the commitment shown once again this year by current and retired Bank employees to help support the work of thousands of not-for-profit organizations across Canada,” stated Louis Vachon, President and Chief Executive Officer of National Bank and Co-Chair of the 2012 Centraide campaign of Greater Montreal.

United Way/Centraide derives most of its funding from corporate fundraising campaigns like the one organized by the Bank each year. The money raised will be used to support numerous programs and social services devoted to improving the quality of life of Canadians in sectors benefiting the most from their outreach.

Every year, through its donations and sponsorships program and the initiatives of its employees, National Bank supports hundreds of organizations across Canada. It is particularly committed to supporting health, education, arts and culture, and community outreach, with the goal of generating positive benefits for communities. To learn more, visit
