National Bank 2013 SME Awards: Provincial Winners Unveiled
Last Friday, National Bank announced the winners of the 19th edition of the National Bank SME Awards recognition program. The provincial gala was held in Montreal and was attended by close to 200 people, including the finalists, National Bank representatives and members of the business community. The provincial and regional winners shared $500,000 in prizes, offered by the many sponsors and partners of this event.

The Gold winners in each category are:
- Agribusiness SME: Vignoble Rivière du Chêne, Saint-Eustache (www.vignobleriviereduchene.ca)
With 20 hectares of vines and more than 11,500 cases of wine produced annually, Vignoble Rivière du Chêne is a leader in the Quebec wine industry. The company produces Certified Quebec Wines with a respect for tradition, climate and terroir, and with a clever slogan that translates as “well cultivated and cultured”!
- Export SME: Valmétal Inc., Saint-Germain-de-Grantham (www.valmetal.com)
Valmétal manufactures equipment that mechanizes and automates the storage, processing and distribution of feed to farm animals. Its products are distributed in Canada, New England, the American Mid-West, and several European and Asian countries.
- SME with less than $5 million in sales: ElCargo Fabrication Inc., Saint-Hyacinthe (www.elcargo.com)
Founded in 1998, ElCargo Fabrication is an industry leader in mechanical tarp systems for trailers, dumpsters and woodchip trailers. These watertight, tough and versatile systems allow users to considerably reduce their fuel consumption. They are designed and manufactured entirely in Quebec.
- SME with $5-10 million in sales: YourBarFactory, Montréal (www.yourbarfactory.com)
YourBarFactory creates and manufactures made-to-measure snack bars, according to its clients' requirements. The company offers nut-free and gluten-free products in a choice of packaging. With an output of more than 100 million bars per year, it supplies some of the largest retailers in North America.
- SME with $10-50 million in sales: Eureka Lighting, Montréal (www.eurekalighting.com)
Eureka Lighting is a North American leader in decorative lighting solutions. It offers a wide range of flexible products that meet the needs of architects and designers to enhance contemporary working and living environments.
The members of the jury also awarded a Jury's Choice – Young Entrepreneur award to La Crevette du Nord-Atlantique Inc. from Gaspé. This shrimp processing business makes every effort to adapt its products to its clients' needs, especially in terms of format, packaging, presentation and size.
