Our initiatives

The Gala des Lys de la Diversité: Bringing people of all backgrounds together 

National Bank joined forces with Média Mosaïque Montréal for the third time on May 2018 to present the sixth edition of the Gala des Lys de la Diversité du Québec. This high-profile award ceremony brings together people of all backgrounds to recognize the importance of working towards an inclusive society. The Bank is pleased to join Média Mosaïque Montréal in congratulating all nominees and award winners.

An accommodation program that takes the needs of our employees into account

To ensure an inclusive workplace and eliminate obstacles to the career advancement of minorities, the Bank has implemented a policy consisting of reasonable measures aimed at preventing discrimination.

Inclusive recruitment practices

The Bank has created a pool of prequalified candidates who can fill a position in any of its business sectors. When a position becomes available, these candidates are specifically followed up on to maximize their chances in the selection process.

Diversity Ambassadors Program

The Diversity Ambassadors Program was created to help recruit employees from different cultures and forge closer ties with newcomers to Canada. Through the program, employees can become ambassadors and play a key role in promoting the Bank within their communities. Congratulating all nominees and award winners.

A financial program for newcomers

National Bank has developed a financial program for newcomers to Canada with permanent resident status, enabling them to save during this important stage of their lives.


National Bank ranked among Canada's Best Diversity Employers

In February 2018, National Bank was recognized as one of Canada's Best Diversity Employers for the 8th consecutive year. This competition, organized by Mediacorp Canada Inc., recognizes 50 Canadian employers who have developed exceptional inclusiveness programs for employees from five major groups: women, members of visible minorities, persons with disabilities, Aboriginal peoples, and lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender/transsexual (LGBT) peoples.

National Bank ranked among Canada's Best Employers for New Canadians

In 2013, National Bank made the list of Canada's Best Employers for New Canadians. This national award recognizes employers who offer programs to assist new Canadians in making the transition to a new workplace and a new life in Canada.

Diversity award from the Jeune Chambre de commerce haïtienne

At the 3rd Excellence Gala of the Jeune Chambre de commerce haïtienne on March 13, 2010, National Bank received the diversity award, which recognizes the efforts of a company that sets themselves apart through its inclusive human resources practices and by the number of employees from cultural communities and their position levels in the organization. The company's commitment to the Haitian community is another aspect the jury considers.

The Bank receives the Maurice Pollack Award

On June 18, 2007, National Bank received the Maurice Pollack Award in the “private sector enterprises or organizations” category as part of the 9th edition of the Quebec Awards for Citizenship. This award highlights the efforts of businesses that support equal access to employment for Quebecers from cultural communities and visible minorities and the adaptation of services in the workplace.
