Diversity scholarships

National Bank is committed to diversity and inclusiveness, two of the Bank's core values. The Bank encourages college and university students to apply for the scholarship programs below.

Women in Financial Markets

Program description

This scholarship initiative encourages skilled and talented women who are interested in a career in financial markets to pursue post-graduate studies (master’s degree or higher), while providing them with the opportunity to get acquainted with our organization. Up to three successful candidates will each be granted a one-time scholarship in the amount of $10,000. The selected candidates will be paired with a Senior Mentor from our Financial Markets group, ensuring a link between the recipient and National Bank throughout their studies. Recipients will also be offered internship opportunities within the organization.

Selection process

Please refer to our Women in Financial Markets Scholarship web page for full details.

We are currently accepting applications from qualified candidates during our application period, March 1, 2016 to May 2, 2016.

Students with Functional Limitations

Program description

National Bank recognizes that some young people live with functional limitations, and wants to help them achieve their goals through its Bursary and Summer Employment Program, which was established over 20 years ago. The program is aimed at college and university students living with disabilities. The summer job can be in any National Bank sector and takes the candidate's profile into account.

This program awards an individual $5,000 scholarship, combined with a 12-week paid summer job to two students enrolled in a Quebec, Ontario or New Brunswick university. A $2,500 scholarship, combined with a 10-week paid summer job, is also available for college students residing in Quebec.

Selection process:

  • First you must satisfy the following selection criteria:
    • Be registered in a full-time or part-time university or college program in a field related to the internship offered at National Bank (Finance, Accounting, IT, Customer Service, Communication, Human Resources, etc.)
    • Be an adult (age 18) and legally entitled to work in Canada
    • Bilingual (an asset)
    • Have a very good academic record
    • Have extracurricular activities that demonstrate your social involvement
    • Able to enclose proof of your disability (medical certificate) with your file
  • You can apply online through our job posting. Rules and registration documents are also available from colleges, universities and organizations working with individuals with disabilities. For all other information, e-mail diversity@nbc.ca.
  • Candidate selection is very strict. Human Resources employees, as well as professionals in the candidate's field of study, will be pre-screening candidates (files and interviews). The final selection will be made by the National Bank diversity expert and an external partner from the educational or disabled community network.

The program will be open again in December 2016.
