Changes to the National Bank MasterCard® À la carte Rewards Plan

Changes have been made to your rewards program. These changes, which primarily affect the point redemption grid, will come into effect on November 1, 2016.

Benefit of using the À la carte Plan's dedicated travel agency

As of November 1, 2016, you can benefit from a new generous redemption grid when you reserve your vacation through the Rewards Plan's dedicated travel agency, managed by Transat Distribution Canada. This grid will allow you to travel for less by redeeming fewer points for travel discounts on flights, hotels, car rentals and much more.

FAQ

1. Why is National Bank making changes to the rewards program?

2. Why are you notifying me in August about changes taking effect in November?

We are informing you in advance in the interest of transparency, but also to give you enough time to redeem your points before the changes come into force. 

3. Where can I get a copy of the new program rules?

You can find all information relating to the new rules at nbcrewards.ca

4. How will these changes affect purchases made with my MasterCard credit card?

The number of points you accumulate per dollar in purchases will remain the same. However, the number of points required for rewards will be different.

5. I just signed up for a card with the À la carte Rewards Plan and I wasn't advised of these changes.

If you haven't already received a letter about the changes, you should do so soon. However, if you signed up for a card with the À la carte Rewards Plan between July 27 and October 31, 2016, you will receive a notice to that effect.

6. I have a Platinum Business Card, Escapade, OVATION Gold, Edition or Allure credit card with the Rewards Plan. Can I also take advantage of the generous grid when redeeming points through the À la carte Rewards Plan's dedicated travel agency?

Yes. This new grid applies to all of our cardholders with the Rewards Plan.

7. What will happen if I have a balance of 70,000 points on my card on November 1, 2016? Will I be given additional time to redeem my points at the current exchange grid after the changes take effect?

No additional time will be given. The number of points accumulated as of November 1, 2016 will remain in your account. You may redeem them for rewards of your choice in accordance with the new redemption grid in effect.
