What you need to know:

  • You can fill out this form for your first deferral request, or for an extension request.
  • A mortgage payment deferral is intended to support you in the event that COVID-19 affects your finances, i.e. job loss or salary reduction.
  • A mortgage payment deferral allows you to defer your payments (principal and interest) for a period of 3 months, for a maximum of 6 months.
  • You will need your mortgage loan number to fill out the form (found on your contract or in your online bank).
  • The deferral applies to the principal and interest only. You must continue paying the other costs such as recurring administration fees, municipal and school taxes, and life, critical illness and disability insurance, if applicable. There may be a delay before these amounts are withdrawn from your bank account. Make sure you have enough money in your account to make these payments.
  • Additional interest caused by the interests of a mortgage deferral will be automatically reimbursed.
  • If you own more than one property, you must submit a separate request for each property.

You will receive a copy of this consent by email. Please save a copy for your records.

My request - I am requesting a deferral of my mortgage principal and interest payments for 3 months, if I am admissible. My application cannot be cancelled or modified. However, it will be possible for me to pay my deferred amounts by making an early repayment. The desired outcome will be the same.

 

Change in conditions for my personal loan - I agree that this deferral will change the conditions of my loan:

  • Interest continues to accrue during the deferral period.

  • Deferred interest will be added to the principal balance of the loan and will incur interest.

  • The Bank will assume the interest on the interest accumulated on the deferred payments for the entire deferral period. The amount varies based on the mortgage balance and interest rate.

  • The balance upon renewing my mortgage payments, i.e. at the end of the deferral term, will increase because of the unpaid principal and interest.

Continuation of my other payments - I will continue to make my payments for administration fees, municipal and school taxes, and life, disability or critical illness insurance premiums, if applicable. There may be a delay before these amounts are withdrawn from my bank account. I must make sure to have enough money in my account to make these payments.

 

Joint borrowers - If we are multiple borrowers, I declare that all the borrowers have authorized me to make this application and to give the required consent in their name.

 

Electronic communications - I authorize National Bank to send me all communications related to this application by secure electronic means at the email address provided in this application or to the email address in my file. I also agree that National Bank may send communications related to my request to all co-borrowers who have an account in the online bank.
