What is a variable rate?

A variable rate means the rate can go up or down based on fluctuations in the prime rate1. You can choose a variable rate if you want to save money when rates drop.

1. "Prime" means the annual variable interest rate posted by National Bank, from time to time, and used by the Bank to determine the interest rates on the loans it grants in Canadian dollars in Canada.
