The "Million Points Giveaway" contest is organized by National Bank of Canada (the "Contest Organizer"). The contest will take place in Canada from September 5, at 00:01 a.m. to December 31, 2017, at 11:59 p.m. (ET) (the "Contest Period").
This Contest is open to any Canadian resident who has reached the age of majority at the time of entry into the contest and who is the primary cardholder of one of the following National Bank Mastercard® credit cards: Edition®1 or Allure®1 with the À la carte Rewards Plan®, Escapade®1, OVATION®1 Gold, Platinum, World® or World Elite®. This Contest is also open to businesses with their head office in Canada and self-employed workers residing in Canada who have a National Bank Platinum Mastercard Business Card (all above mentioned accounts hereafter referred to as the "eligible account"). Businesses must participate through an authorized signatory. The authorized signatory or self-employed worker must be a resident of Canada and have reached the age of majority when he enters the Contest.
This Contest is not open to employees, agents or representatives of the Contest Organizer or Mastercard International Incorporated, their affiliated companies, advertising and promotion agencies, suppliers of prizes, materials and services related to this Contest, members of their respective immediate family (siblings, children, parents), common-law or legal spouses or any individual residing with such employees, agents and representatives.
* For the purpose of this contest, an “authorized signatory” means any person or persons having the authority to represent the business to third parties, including but not being limited to the President, Vice-President or Secretary or a director.
HOW TO ENTER
Enter the Contest by completing these steps:
1. Go to nbcrewards.ca. If you are not already registered, click "Register Now" to create your online profile.
2. Click on the "Travel" tab and then click "Book now" to access the À la carte Travel agency! Book a vacation package or flight with the new À la carte Travel agency*—powered by Transat—and get a chance to win 1,000,000 rewards points.
*Hotel, car and cruise reservations made through the À la carte Travel agency are not eligible.
The Contest Organizer will use your personal information—first and last name, phone number (including area code), full address (including postal code) and email address—to enter you in the contest. For the purposes of the contest, your À la carte rewards account number will be registered in the database used by the Contest Organizer to grant you an entry in the contest. There is a limit of one (1) entry per account. Subject to your compliance with these Contest rules. Once you have booked your trip, you automatically get an entry into the draw. Should you cancel the booking before the draw, you will lose your entry.
No purchase necessary
You can enter the contest by sending an original, legible, handwritten letter of at least 50 words to the Contest Organizer explaining why you would like to win the prize. Clearly indicate your contact information—first and last name, complete address (including postal code), telephone numbers (including area code) and email address—and mail the letter to the address below. Your entry must be postmarked no later than December 31, 2017 or your entry will be null and void.

Provided your letter meets all of the above requirements, the Contest Organizer will use your personal information (last and first name, address, telephone number and email address) to enter you in the database used for the contest.
Write-in entries are subject to the same eligibility criteria as other entries.
Contest participation limits
There is a limit of three (3) Contest entries per person, for the entire Contest Period, regardless of the method of participation.
There is one (1) prize available to be won during the Contest consisting of one million (1,000,000) À la carte Rewards points (approx. value of up to CAD 10,000).
The draw will take place on January 17, 2018 at 2 p.m. at the Contest Organizer's head office at 600 De La Gauchetière West, 19 Floor in Montreal. The Contest Organizer will randomly draw one (1) eligible entry from all entries received and registered in accordance with these rules during the Contest Period.
ODDS OF WINNING
The odds of winning a prize depend on the total number of entries received and registered in accordance with these rules and the number of entries earned by one person during the Contest Period.
CLAIMING THE PRIZE
To be declared a winner, any individual, any authorized signatory of a business or any self-employed worker selected to receive a prize must:
a) Be able to be contacted by telephone by the Contest Organizer within three (5) days of the draw.
b) Correctly answer, without assistance and within a limited time, a mathematical skill-testing question asked by the Contest Organizer over the telephone at a time agreed upon in advance; and
c) Complete and sign a Declaration and Liability Waiver Form (the "Waiver") which will be sent to him/her by the Contest Organizer, and return it, duly completed and signed, to the Contest Organizer within five (5) days of its receipt.
If a participant whose entry is selected fails to meet one of the above conditions or any other condition provided for in these rules, the participating individual, business or self-employed worker will be disqualified, and, time permitting, a new draw may be held in accordance with these rules until such time as an individual, business or self-employed worker is selected and declared a winner.
Within five (5) days of receiving the duly completed and signed Waiver, the Contest Organizer will inform the winning individual, business or self-employed worker of the procedure for claiming the prize.
GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS
All qualifying entries are subject to verification by the Contest Organizer. All qualifying entries that are, depending on the case, incomplete, illegible, damaged, fraudulent, late or that do not allow the participant to be identified or are otherwise non-compliant, will be rejected and will not qualify as an entry or a prize.
All decisions by the Contest Organizer or its representatives regarding this contest are final and without appeal, subject to any decision by the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux du Québec, for residents of Quebec, on any matter over which it has jurisdiction.
The Contest Organizer reserves the right to disqualify any individual, business or self-employed worker who enters or attempts to enter this contest in a manner that is contrary to these contest rules or unfair to other participants. This individual, business or self-employed worker could be referred to competent judicial authorities.
Prizes must be accepted as described in these contest rules and may not be transferred in whole or in part to another individual, substituted for another prize or exchanged for cash in whole or in part, subject to the conditions in the following section.
In the event that, for reasons not related to the individual, the Contest Organizer is unable to award a prize or a portion thereof as described in these rules, the Contest Organizer reserves the right to award another prize (or a portion thereof) of a similar nature and of equal value or, at its sole discretion, to award the cash value of a prize indicated in these rules.
Any individual, business through its authorized signatory, or self-employed worker selected for a prize holds the Contest Organizer, its subsidiaries, advertising and promotion agencies, employees, agents, mandataries and representatives harmless from any and all liability for any damage that may be incurred as a result of the acceptance or use of the prize. In order to be declared the winner and prior to receiving their prize, any selected individual, business or self-employed worker undertakes to sign a Waiver to that effect. The Waiver must be signed by the authorized signatory of the selected business.
Subject to approval, if required, from the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux du Québec, for residents of Quebec, the Contest Organizer reserves the right at all times, at its sole discretion, to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend this Contest, in whole or in part, if any event or human intervention occurs that could corrupt or affect the administration, security, impartiality or conduct of the contest as provided for in these rules.
Under no circumstances may the Contest Organizer, its subsidiaries, advertising and promotion agencies, suppliers of prizes, materials and services related to this contest, employees, agents and representatives be required to award more prizes than provided for in these rules or to award prizes otherwise than in accordance with these rules.
By entering the Contest, any selected individual, business through its organized signatory, or self-employed worker authorizes the Contest Organizer and its representatives to use, as required, his/her name, photograph, likeness, statements about the prize, place of residence and/or voice for advertising purposes, without compensation of any kind. A statement to this effect will be included in the Waiver.
By participating or attempting to participate in this contest, any individual or business through its authorized signatory, or self-employed worker agrees to hold the Contest Organizer, its subsidiaries, advertising and promotion agencies, employees, agents, mandataries and representatives harmless from any and all damages he/she/it may incur as a result of participating or attempting to participate in this Contest.
Qualifying entries are the property of the Contest Organizer and will under no circumstances be returned to participants.
There will be no communication or correspondence with contest participants except as set out in these rules or if initiated by the Contest Organizer.
For Quebec residents, any dispute regarding the conduct or organization of a publicity contest may be submitted to the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux du Québec for a ruling. Any dispute respecting the awarding of a prize may be submitted to the Régie solely for the purpose of helping the parties reach a settlement.
Personal information collected about the participants for the purposes of this contest will only be used to administer the contest. By participating in this contest, any individual, business through its authorized signatory, or self-employed worker authorizes the Contest Organizer to use his/her/its personal information appearing, as the case may be, in the information on the eligible Mastercard credit card account or on the write-in entry for contest administration purposes. Participants will not be sent any communications not related to the contest unless they have given prior consent.
Any individual, authorized signatory of a business or self-employed worker selected for a prize acknowledges that the only guarantee applicable to the prize is the manufacturer's regular guarantee. To be declared the winner and prior to receiving their prize, any selected individual, authorized signatory of a business or self-employed worker undertakes to sign a Waiver to that effect.
For the purpose of these rules, the participant is either the primary holder of the eligible Mastercard account that was used to carry out the eligible transaction for which an entry number was assigned or the individual whose name appears on the write-in entry. The prize will be awarded to that person, if he or she is selected and declared a winner. In the case of a National Bank Platinum Mastercard Business Card, the participant is the business or self-employed worker associated with the eligible account whose entry is selected, or the business or self-employed worker whose name appears on the write-in entry. The prize will be awarded to the business or self-employed worker that is selected and declared a winner. Notwithstanding the prize non-transferability stipulated in these rules, the business will decide who receives the prize. The individual designated by the business must be a resident of Canada and have reached the age of majority.
In the event that the computer system is unable to register all entries during the Contest Period, for any reason, or participation in the Contest must be ended in whole or in part prior to the date set out in the rules, the Contest Organizer, at its discretion, will randomly draw from the entries duly registered during the Contest Period, or, if applicable, up to the date of the event that ended participation in the Contest.
The Contest Organizer, its subsidiaries, advertising and promotion agencies, employees, agents, mandataries and representatives will not be liable for the malfunction of any computer hardware, software or communication line resulting in the loss or absence of a network communication, or any faulty, incomplete, incomprehensible or deleted transmission by a computer or network that could limit or prevent an individual from participating in this contest. The individuals identified above will also not be liable for any damage or loss caused, either directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, by downloading any Internet page, software or other component, or transmitting any information in order to participate in the contest.
Should any paragraph of these rules be declared or ruled as unenforceable or invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, this paragraph will be considered invalid. However, all other paragraphs that are not affected will be applied within the limits permitted by law.
In the event of a discrepancy between the English and French versions of these rules, the French version will prevail.
