What is the difference between a collateral and a conventional mortgage?

There are two types of mortgage: collateral and conventional.

The collateral mortgage is the type of mortgage used by National Bank. It has the advantage of refinancing without having to return to the notary.

For more information, see our brochure on different types of mortgages for buying a residential property. You can also visit the Canadian Bankers Association.

If necessary, talk to your mortgage advisor who can help you choose the best option.
