Promotional advantages and terms and conditions of the promotion

To benefit from this promotion, sign up for one of the eligible credit cards no later than April 16, 2023. 

In addition, you must not be a primary cardholder of a personal National Bank Mastercard credit card or have been in the last 24 months. 

Save on annual fees the first year:

The primary cardholder will be refunded their annual card fee for the first year. The refund will appear as a fee and a credit on their statement no later than 4 months after the account was opened.

Rewards points:

You could earn a combination of rewards points as follows:

Welcome points

World Elite: You will earn 20,000 rewards points if you charge a net purchase amount of $3,000 to the credit card within 3 months of opening your account.

Platinum: You will earn 10,000 rewards points if you charge a net purchase amount of $2,500 to the credit card within 3 months of opening your account.

Points are earned on net purchases for a period of 3 months from the account opening date. Your rewards points will be added to your credit card account in a single disbursement and appear on your statement no later than 5 months after the account was opened.

Points when you sign up for credit card payment insurance 

World Elite and Platinum: You will earn 10,000 rewards points if you sign up for credit card payment insurance for a minimum of 3 months. To obtain your rewards points, complete the sections related to the Credit Card Payment Protection (CCPP) on the credit card application when you open your account.  

Your rewards points will be added to your credit card account in a single disbursement and appear on your statement no later than 5 months after the account was opened.

Points earned on the 1st anniversary of the account opening date

World Elite: You will earn 10,000 rewards points if you charge a net purchase amount of $12,000 to the credit card no later than 12 months after the account was opened.

Platinum: You will earn 5,000 rewards points if you charge a net purchase amount of $6,000 to the credit card no later than 12 months after the account was opened.

Points are earned on net purchases for a period of 12 months from the account opening date. Your rewards points will be added to your credit card account in a single disbursement and appear by the 2nd statement following your account anniversary date.

Rewards points and refund conditions

Net purchases: The net purchase volume is the amount of purchases charged to the account minus returned items and refunds. Annual fees, balance transfers, cash advances (including transactions that can be directly converted to cash, such as money orders, bank transfers, traveller’s cheques and gaming transactions), interest charges and any other fees or adjustments not considered purchases are not included in the calculation of net purchases.

Account in good standing: The account must be open and in good standing at the time when annual fees are refunded, or rewards points are applied.

Reward limit: There is a limit of one reward amount per category (welcome points, points for signing up for credit card payment insurance, and points earned on the 1st anniversary of the account opening date) per credit card account and per client during the promotion, regardless of the number of cards linked to the account.

Change in an eligible credit card: If you sign up for an eligible card during the promotion and subsequently change your card before the first anniversary of opening your account, you will earn the points applicable on the 1st anniversary of the date you activated your card, provided that you meet the promotion conditions.

Other conditions

  • The card is issued subject to credit approval by National Bank of Canada. Certain conditions apply.
  • The promotion may not be combined with another promotion applicable to National Bank credit cards, nor is it retroactive.
  • You must not be employed by us or by an entity in our group.
  • The promotion may be modified or withdrawn without notice.

2. Grace period: No interest will be charged on purchases made during the month, provided the client pays the balance in full within twenty-one (21) days of the statement date. This grace period does not apply to cash advances or balance transfers. Minimum payment: If your account balance is lower than $10, you must pay the entire balance. If you reside in the province of Quebec, your minimum payment will correspond to 5% of the credit card account balance plus any overdue payment or $10, whichever amount is higher. If you reside outside of Quebec, your minimum payment represents 2.5% of the credit card account balance plus any overdue payment or $10, whichever amount is higher. Account statement: A statement is sent monthly.

3. Balance transfers and cash advances are subject to credit approval by National Bank. Each balance transfer must be at least $250.

4. This coverage applies to purchases and rentals charged in part to the card, except out-of-province medical/hospital insurance for which the travel arrangements need not be charged to the card, and lost or delayed luggage insurance where all transportation costs must be charged to the card. This coverage applies to the primary cardholder, their spouse and/or dependent children when they (spouse and/or dependent children) travel with the primary cardholder. Extended warranty coverage applies to most new items purchased with the card, in Canada or abroad, as long as the manufacturer's warranty is valid in Canada.
