Activate your NBDB account and start investing

Achieve your financial goals by following these steps, starting with getting your user ID, linking your bank account, and building your portfolio.

1. Get your user ID and access the platform

New NBDB client?

Personal account: Here’s how you can set up your user ID and password from our website:

  • Click Sign in, then click Trade online on the platform.
  • At the bottom of the sign in page, click Create your secure access and follow the instructions.

Joint, business, or legal entity account: Call 1-800-363-3511 (option 4-1) to get your user ID.

Already a NBDB client?

New account associated with an existing root*: Your new account will automatically appear in your profile.

 

Account on a new root, joint account, business account, legal entity account: call 1-800-363-3511 (option 4-1) to add it to your profile.

 

*The account root is the first 6 characters of the account number. It identifies the main account and allows you to group several sub-accounts together to simplify their management.

2. Link your bank account and transfer funds

Link your bank account

Sign in to the direct brokerage platform on nbdb.ca, and use the secure Flinks app.

Transfer funds

Once your bank account has been validated, you’ll be able to transfer funds from the account within 24-48 hours (business hours). For more information, consult our FAQ on how to transfer funds.

3. Build your portfolio

Reimbursement on asset transfer fees

Transfer your assets without selling your securities and receive a refund of up to $150 in fees from your ceding institution.

To transfer investments to NBDB:

 

  • Complete and print the appropriate transfer form, then send it to us.
  • Include a photocopy of the latest portfolio statement of the account to be transferred.
