How do I send and manage a wire transfer?


A wire transfer allows you to securely transfer funds from the SWIFT network to your different beneficiaries in Canada or abroad, in CAD, USD or other currencies.
 

To send and manage a wire transfer from your online banking for business, verify that you have access to wire transfers in your transactional permissions.

 

To add a wire transfer beneficiary:

  1. Sign in to online banking for business.
  2. In the left menu under Transfer of funds, click Manage beneficiaries.
  3. Click Add payee/beneficiary.
  4. Select Wire transfer beneficiary.
  5. Fill in the required fields and verify that the information is correct.
  6. Then click Continue.

It’s only necessary to add a beneficiary if you need to save their information for future transactions.

 

To send a wire transfer:

  1. Sign in to online banking for business.
  2. In the left menu under Transfer of funds, click Wire transfers.
  3. Select the account to debit if the account is not already selected.
  4. Follow the steps. You can click Help for more information about the fields you need to provide.
  5. Click Continue.
  6. Check the box for verification and confirmation.
  7. Click Confirm.

To review, sign, modify, or delete an upcoming wire transfer:

  1. Sign in to online banking for business.
  2. In the left menu under Accounts and transactions, click Transaction update.
  3. Select Wire transfer from the dropdown menu.
  4. Select the supplier’s name to view the transaction. Then select the respective action to the right of the transaction (sign, edit or delete).
  5. Click Confirm.

Note that a pending (post-dated) transfer can be modified or deleted until 11:59 p.m. (ET) the day before the due date.

 

Good to know

  • Transactions are subject to fees. For more information on applicable conditions and restrictions, see the Fee Guide – Banking Services for Businesses.
  • The SWIFT or BIC identifies the name of the bank, country, city and branch. This information is provided by the recipient.
  • The ABA code is used to identify the recipient’s bank account in the United States.
  • The bank’s name and address must be provided by the recipient.
  • The IBAN is mandatory for all European countries because it identifies the recipient’s bank account.
  • A change to the profile of a wire transfer recipient will not be applied to transfers that waiting to be processed.
  • If your business requires more than one level of verification, the status of the transaction will require a signature. Therefore, no payment to this provider will be possible before the verification.
