IBAN

  • Name of the financial institution and address of the recipient's financial institution branch

If you make an international transfer using Mastercard or Interac, you can follow the status of your transfer from your online bank or from the app. The following information will be displayed:

  • Pending: The transaction is being processed (amount already has been removed from your account)

  • Successful: The transfer has been received by the recipient's financial institution

  • Refused/Cancelled: Transfer was not successfully completed (failed or refused transaction); you will receive an email to reclaim your funds

  • Refunded: you have successfully claimed your funds following a declined or cancelled transfer

For SWIFT transfers, you won’t be able see the status of your transfer.

Some associated banks may have additional charges on the payment sent.

You can’t cancel an international transfer. In certain cases, including fraud, National Bank will do everything it can to stop the reception of an international transfer. Also note that despite the irrevocability of a transfer, it can be cancelled or refused by the recipient's financial institution. You would then get the funds back.
