How do I assign or delete an approval policy?

To assign or delete an approval policy in online banking for business, first make sure you have:

• The Assign approval policies permission and the associated rights to View, Create, Delete and Approve
• The Manage policy and approval level permission and the associated rights to View, Create, Delete and Approve
• Self-approved rights for each permission, if required

To assign an approval policy:

1. Sign in to online banking for business.
2. In the left menu under Administration, click Manage access.
3. Select the Approval rules tab.
4. Select the Administrative operations tab to manage access or Financial operations for file transfers.
5. Click the pencil icon (Edit) to the right of the relevant transaction type to assign the approval policy.
6. Select the desired approval policy and click Confirm.
7. Click Assign. 
8. The policy assignment will be pending approval. You can view it in the Approval log tab.

To delete an approval policy:

1. Sign in to online banking for business.
2. In the left menu under Administration, click Manage access.
3. Select the Approval rules tab.
4. Select the Administrative operations tab to manage access or Financial operations for file transfers.
5. Click the trash icon (Delete) to the right of the type of operation you want to perform. 
6. Select the approval policy and click Remove. 
7. The deletion of the policy will be pending approval. You can view it in the Approval log tab.

Good to know

• A notification and email are sent to administrators and users who need to give their approval when an approval policy is assigned or deleted.
• The self-approved feature allows the user to self-approve a task that they initiated. 
• You can't change an approval rule. You must delete it entirely and then assign it to a new rule.
• Before you delete and assign an approval policy for a permission, make sure that no operations of the same type are pending approval.
• The manage approval rules feature, which allows you to assign and delete a rule, is managed by National Bank.
