How do I deposit a cheque using the mobile app?
To deposit a cheque using the National Bank app for businesses, you must first ensure that you have :
- Access to online banking for business
- At least one bank account
- Installed the National Bank app on your device.
To deposit your cheque :
- Sign in to National Bank app.
- At the bottom of the home screen, click Deposit.
- At the time of the first deposit, a director of your company must give their consent by accepting the terms and conditions. - Enter the amount of your cheque, then click Continue.
- Take a photo of the front and back of your cheque, then click Continue.
- Confirm or change the amount entered and click Continue.
- Select the account into which you wish to deposit your funds.
- Review the deposit details and click Deposit cheque.
Good to know
- You can deposit one cheque at a time with digital deposit.
- Mobile deposit works with cheques, certified cheques, money orders and bank drafts in Canadian currency.
- We always give you a date until which to keep your cheque. We recommend that you keep it in a safe place to limit the risk of it being copied. We also recommend that you destroy it properly (e.g. by shredding).
- If you are having issues depositing your cheque, here are some possible reasons :
- You are using the mobile version of our website. If this is the case, download the National Bank app from the App Store or Google Play.
- An administrator at your company has not yet accepted cheque deposit consent on your mobile device.
- If you are a user, make sure that an administrator has granted you access rights for mobile deposits.
- Only original cheques can be deposited.
- If you deposit a cheque before 9 p.m. (ET) on a business day, it will be processed the same day. After 9 p.m., it will be processed on the next business day.
