How do I cancel an Interac e-Transfer?

You can cancel an Interac e-Transfer® as long as its pending and hasn’t been accepted by the recipient:

 

From your web browser:

  1. Sign in to your online bank.
  2. Click Overview in the menu on the left.
  3. Click Money sent and select the status Pending.
  4. Select a transfer and click Cancel.
  5. Follow the instructions to reclaim the funds.

From the app:

  1. Sign in to the National Bank app.
  2. Select My transfers in the main menu.
  3. Click See all transfers.
  4. Select the transfer and click Cancel.
  5. Follow the instructions.

Important:

  • You'll be charged a $3.50 fee if you or your recipient cancel an Interac e-Transfer®.
  • You’ll not be able to cancel your transfer after it's been accepted by the recipient.
