For a step-by-step guide, watch the demo on cancelling an Interac® e-Transfer.
You can cancel an Interac® e-Transfer as long as it hasn't been accepted by the recipient. If the recipient has registered for direct deposit, the funds will be deposited automatically and you won't have the option of cancelling the transfer. Note that if you (or the recipient) need to cancel an Interac e-Transfer®, you will be charged a fee of $3.50.
Additionally, transaction fees for an Interac® e-Transfer are non-refundable. Be sure to choose a banking package tailored to your needs to avoid excess fees.
N.B.: You cannot cancel an international transfer via Mastercard® and Interac®. If the recipient's financial institution refuses the transfer, the funds will be returned to you.
