How do I send an international transfer?

Here’s how to transfer money to someone in another country.

From your online bank:

  1. Click Send money in the left menu.
  2. Select your recipient or click Add a recipient.
  3. Follow the instructions.

From the National Bank app:

  1. Click Transfer at the bottom of the screen, then select Send money internationally.
  2. Select the account from which you want to make the transfer, then select the recipient.
  3. Follow the instructions.

Here is the list of countries to which you can send an international transfer:

North America: United States

Europe: Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain.

Asia: India, Philippines (from your online bank only. Not yet available on the National Bank app).

Your desired country is not in this list? You can request the transfer to be sent to your branch instead. Make sure you have the following information on hand:

  • Recipient's full name and address
  • Recipient's banking information (account number, branch, financial institution, SWIFT code)
  • Address of the recipient's branch
